  • Procedure Time: Typically 2 appointments.
  • Longevity: 10–15+ years with proper care.
  • Best For: Permanent whitening, closing gaps, fixing chips, and "instant orthodontics."
  • Material: High-quality, stain-resistant dental ceramic.

What are a Few Imperfections that Veneers Cover?

Dental veneers are as versatile as they are beautiful, which is why they are popular with celebrities and those who crave smile glamor. Below, we share common cosmetic issues that dental veneers in High Point can conceal

Short Teeth

If you have a few short and worn-down teeth, they detract from the aesthetics of your smile and can lead to premature tooth wear. Veneers give your smile symmetry.

Small Gaps

You may feel self-conscious if you have unusual spacing between your teeth or small gaps. Veneers can often hide these gaps, giving you the smile you've always wanted.

Tooth Stains

Stubborn tooth stains and discoloration may be hard to treat. Fortunately, dental veneers can mask these issues, giving you the bright, white smile you've been looking for.

General Flaws

Chips, cracks, and unusually shaped teeth aren't a problem for our beautiful porcelain veneers! Your cosmetic dentist in High Point will tell you if veneers can hide these issues successfully.

Gummy Smiles

Does too much gum show when you smile? Do you hide your mouth when you laugh? Often, dental veneers can conceal some gum tissue and make the gum-to-tooth ratio more consistent and beautiful.

Porcelain and composite veneers in High Point are similar in that they fix a lot of the same smile flaws, such as:

What Are the Differences Between Porcelain and Composite Veneers?

There are some key differences between the veneers that you should understand so you can make the right decision for your smile.

Materials

Porcelain veneers are made of ceramic customized in a dental lab to match or enhance the shade of your teeth. Composite veneers are made using the same material we use for dental fillings—composite resin.

Permanence

Porcelain veneers are considered a permanent procedure because Dr. Bray must remove a small amount of tooth enamel to ensure a seamless fit for the veneer. Depending on how you care for them, porcelain veneers typically last 10-15 years before needing replacement.

Composite material is added to your tooth without removing any tooth structure.

Cost

Porcelain veneers are more expensive than composite veneers and require two appointments to complete since they're made in a dental lab.

We can typically complete composite veneers during one appointment with your cosmetic dentist in High Point

Yes! Dental veneers are actually an excellent choice for filling in the gaps or spaces between teeth without orthodontic treatment. However, each patient's case is unique, and consulting your cosmetic dentist in High Point is the best way to learn about your options so you can choose the right treatment for your needs.

Porcelain vs. Composite Veneers

At Deep River Family and Cosmetic Dentistry, we offer two types of dental veneers—ceramic porcelain and composite resin.

Both types of veneer can fix gaps between teeth; however, some differences exist.

Porcelain veneers are created in a dental lab and customized for you based on Dr. Bray's specifications. This can take two to three weeks to complete, and the procedure is considered permanent since your cosmetic dentist in High Point will remove some tooth enamel and structure to ensure an excellent fit.

Composite veneers are made of composite resin, which we use for dental fillings. Dr. Bray can custom-shade them and typically completes the procedure during one visit to our dental office.

Learn More about Your Options

The first step in learning more about your options is to book an evaluation with Dr. Bray. Contact Deep River Family & Cosmetic Dentistry at (336) 883-1371 for more information about dental veneers in High Point and what they can do for your smile.

Why Choose Porcelain Veneers?

Many patients find themselves caught between different cosmetic and orthodontic options. Here is how veneers compare to other common treatments:

  • Vs. Invisalign (The "Instant Orthodontics" Advantage): While Invisalign® is an excellent tool for structural movement, it can take 6–18 months to see results. Porcelain veneers are often called "instant orthodontics" because they can camouflage slightly crooked or crowded teeth in just two visits. If your bite is healthy but you want a straighter-looking smile immediately, veneers are the faster path.
  • Vs. Teeth Whitening: Unlike whitening, veneers can mask "internal" stains (like tetracycline staining) that bleach cannot reach, providing a permanently white result.
  • Vs. Dental Crowns: Crowns require significant tooth reshaping. Veneers are a more conservative "prep," preserving more of your natural tooth structure while achieving the same aesthetic goal.
  • Vs. Dental Bonding: While bonding is faster, porcelain is far more durable and translucent, mimicking the light-reflecting qualities of natural enamel.

Choosing Your Material: Porcelain vs. Composite Veneers

Porcelain Veneers (The Gold Standard)

Porcelain is the most popular choice for patients seeking a total smile makeover. These veneers are custom-crafted in a professional dental lab to match the light-reflecting qualities of your natural enamel.

  • Durability: Lasts 10–15+ years.
  • Appearance: High-end ceramic mimics the translucency of natural enamel.
  • Stain-Proof: Highly resistant to coffee, tea, and tobacco stains.
  • Process: Requires two appointments and custom lab fabrication.

Composite Veneers (The Fast Alternative)

Composite veneers are made from a tooth-colored resin (the same material used for dental fillings). Dr. Bray sculpted this material directly onto your teeth during a single visit.

  • Durability: Lasts 5–7 years.
  • Appearance: Natural-looking resin applied directly to the tooth.
  • Cost-Effective: A more affordable, single-visit solution for minor flaws.
  • Conservative: Often requires little to no removal of natural enamel.

The Veneers Process at Deep River Family & Cosmetic Dentistry

  • The Consultation: High Point dentist, Dr. Cassidy Bray, examines your health and discusses your "goal smile." We ensure veneers are the right choice for your bite and long-term oral health.
  • Preparation: To ensure a natural, flush fit, a microscopic layer of enamel is polished away. We then take precision impressions for our elite dental lab to craft your custom shells.
  • The Final Reveal: Once your veneers are ready, we "try them in" to ensure you love the shape and shade. Once approved, they are permanently bonded, giving you an instant transformation.

Am I a Candidate for Veneers?

Once you’ve made a decision to improve your smile, you will probably be eager to get started. But as with any cosmetic dental procedure, Dr. Bray will want to make sure your oral health is good before getting started. Most people are good candidates for veneers, but we will want to rule out any of the following problems before we get started:

  • Gum disease: If you see blood in the sink after brushing and flossing, you might have the early stages of gum disease. Not only does this put your oral health at risk, but if your gums are swollen, this can interfere with getting proper impressions of your mouth for fabrication of the veneers.
  • Tooth decay: Your teeth need to be cavity-free before placing the veneers.
  • Teeth grinding: Also called “bruxism,” this damaging, unconscious habit can wreak havoc on your teeth, and you will want to address it before investing in veneers. Often a simple night guard worn while you sleep is enough to keep you from causing further damage.

Dr. Bray will work with you to resolve any of these issues in preparation for your veneers.

The benefits of modern cosmetic dentistry are truly amazing. Today, at Deep River Family & Cosmetic Dentistry we can offer you more options for improving the appearance of your smile than ever before. With treatments like porcelain veneers, there really is no aesthetic dental problem we can’t fix with cosmetic dentistry.

One of the reasons that we now have so many options for enhancing your smile is the tremendous improvement in dental materials that has occurred over the years. This gives us the freedom to find solutions for cosmetic dental concerns by using modern materials that are not only functional for daily use and maintenance, but look natural as well.

Caring for Your New Smile

Caring for your veneers is very much like caring for your natural teeth. Be sure to practice good home care by brushing and flossing regularly, and keep up with twice yearly visits to the dentist for examinations and cleanings. When you come in for regular appointments at our High Point dental office, Dr. Bray can also make sure your veneers are in good shape.

Use common sense with veneers, and don’t chew on anything that is overly hard or use your teeth for tools. (This is a good guideline whether you have veneers or not!)

Since porcelain veneers are stain-resistant, you won’t have to worry about them turning yellow or dull. Be sure to avoid using a whitening toothpaste when you have veneers; the harsh abrasives can damage your veneers.
