The news that you need a tooth extracted can cause anxiety and feelings of loss or embarrassment. It’s especially true if you’ve been a dedicated brusher and flosser your whole life!

But there are many reasons why your dentist recommends dental extractions in High Point, NC, and they’re not all related to poor health.

1. Straightening Crooked Teeth

If you are having orthodontic treatment, your dentist may determine that removing one or more teeth will deliver optimal results. Orthodontic treatment straightens crooked teeth, but if your the teeth are too big for your mouth, your dentist would recommend dental extraction.

2. Preparing for Dentures

Your natural teeth are the best teeth, even if there's not much structure left to them. So dental extractions in High Point are never a first choice. However, if you’re getting dentures, your dentist may determine that removing one or more teeth will help you achieve the most comfortable, healthiest long-term results.

3. Removing Crowded Wisdom Teeth

Wisdom teeth or fourth molars are a throwback to ancient times. As we’ve evolved, however, our mouths have gotten smaller and we no longer need the chewing power of the fourth set of molars. So if you have wisdom teeth that are coming in at odd angles or creating problems like crowding and misalignment, you are better off without them.

Is Dental Extraction Right for You?

We know that your teeth are a precious commodity, and once they're gone, they're gone for good.
